Coach Visits

Coach outings take place from April to September mainly to National Trust properties to help members get value for their membership

Due to the increasing cost of coach hire we decided that in 2023 that we would concentrate our coach trips on visiting National Trust properties, where NT members would have free entry.

Thursday 23rd May: Belton House and Woolsthorpe Manor

On Christmas Day 1642 a genius was born in Woolsthorpe Manor, a typical 17th century Lincolnshire farmhouse. Its claim to fame rests not only as the birthplace of Sir Isaac Newton but also as the location of the ground breaking experiments into light and gravity in his Year of Wonders,1665, when he returned from Cambridge to take refuge from the plague.

We will leave around 12.15pm for Belton House where is available at the Stables Café at Belton.

Belton House is a Grade 1 listed Carolean style house built between 1685 & 1687 by Sir John Brownlow. The layout separated guest rooms from family rooms, with the principal room, the Marble Hall, at the centre of the south front, flanked by the Great Staircase & Great Parlour. Reception rooms and bedrooms are scattered over the two main floors. The interiors are impressive, with a dazzling collection of silver & porcelain and a world-renowned library.

It is considered to be a complete example of a typical English country house. The park is 1000 acres and there are a variety of gardens surrounding the house.

We board the coach at 4.30pm for the return journey

Charge: £25 for members and £27 for non-members. Non-NT members will have to pay NT admission charges on arrival. Please remember to bring your NT membership cards with you.
