Join us for our invigorating walks, held on the first and third Thursday every month! These walks are suitable for all ages and cover an average distance of 5 to 6 miles, usually finishing up at a local pub for refreshments. During the summer, we also enjoy evening strolls (short walks of around three miles). Whether you're a seasoned walker or just starting out, everyone is welcome to enjoy the fresh air and great company. Don't miss out on this opportunity to get outside and explore!
Some examples of our recent walks:
16th October - Shugborough Hall
Starting at the Clifford Arms in Great Heywood we followed a long section of the Worcester canal from Great Haywood to Tixall Bridge and walked past the main entrance to Shugborough Hall. Across to Cannock Chase and the old tramway before entering Shugborough park via the side entrance, walking through the grounds back to the Clifford Arms for lunch.
29th July - Fradley Junction:
An evening stroll starting off at the White Swan, we walked down the canal and up through to Alrewas Hayes; then looped back through Bromley Hayes and back to the White Swan.
7th August - Willington Wetlands
We enjoyed a dry-weather walk around Willington Wetlands Nature Reserve, exploring paths around lakes formed from old gravel quarries. We then paused for birdwatching at the hides and completed the 4.5-mile route, finishing with lunch at the Dragon Inn.
21st August - Witherley
We started at a picturesque village near Atherstone and made our way around some rural tracks. We negotiated our way around several stiles and made our way back to the Blue Lion pub for lunch.
28th August - Barton-Under-Needwood
An evening stroll around the open fields and woodlands between two villages. Refreshments at the Shoulder of Mutton were welcoming at the end of the walk!
4th September - Kingsley and Middleton
We enjoyed a route around Kingsbury Waterpark and Middleton Lakes with refreshments provided afterwards at the Dog and Doublet.
18th September - Denstone Hall Circular
A walk of just over 5 miles starting in Denstone, continuing through the grounds of Denstone College and the JCB factory, ending up at Denstone Farm Shop Café for an excellent lunch.
24th September - Chorley and Gentleshaw
An evening stroll setting off along quiet lanes in Chorley to Gentleshaw on a circular route, ending up at the Malt Shovel Pub for welcome refreshments.
